My scouts are on a group cooking competition camp atm. According to my mum, their breakfast yesterday morning went up in flames… NOT JUST BURNT, ACTUAL FLAMES! I think these kids need to practise their cooking skills a bit more…
I see someone beat me to it. However - there is always a simpsons gif to almost any situation ;)
Hehe. We also have a running joke that Ben isn’t allowed near sausages because last time he tried to cook them, over half went missing. They either exploded or fell into the fire.
cool. I think i have the amount of people I asked for now, so i’m going to look into and who knows, maybe i’ll be able to send my first batch out for christmas!
Scouts went to Hallr Wood in West Charlton, near Somerton, to work towards their Survival Skills Badge.
Deb Millar and Martyn Huxter of the Central Somerset Outdoor Learning Partnership, were our brilliantly knowledgeable instructors for the evening.
First, we built shelters from branches and vegetation.
After we’d built the shelters, Martyn taught us about the properties of different woods and demonstrated some different tools for lighting fires without matches.
Scouts then made stoves out of empty baked bean cans.
Many thanks to Debbie and Martyn for a really fun and interesting evening.
