We have a branch wide competition camp this weekend for the scout section.
But, it got postponed till tomorrow morning “because of poor weather” (with further judgment of postponing the camp if it storms tonight)
ITS NOT EVEN RAINING ANYMORE. ARE TODAYS KIDS TOO SOFT?!?!

Yeah, but I’m presuming what you’re describing isn’t what is in the photo, right? :D
Few years ago we had an event similar to that where the entire thing got flooded out (we were camping in tents in the CBD), and they had to move everyone to Scout Halls around the city.

The last Gilwell 24 I went to in London (2012 I think?) was so wet half the activities got cancelled (because segways can’t run in foot deep mud). Needless to say, I don’t think anyone stayed awake for 24 hours that year… Imagine Glastonbury mud, and then make the mud so wet it’s half a foot deep and pretty much liquid… that’s Gilwell in 2012…

I went to that Gilwell too! It was awful it doesn’t help that Gilwell gets so muddy even away from actual grass and mud. I stayed up but about 2/3am I started crying because it was just wet and cold and muddy. (yeah it was 2012)

Our tents were filthy… I think all of ours were asleep by 1am, we just couldn’t be bothered anymore. Didn’t help that we had to take our shoes off to go on the dodgems and waltzers. Did you see the clouds come rolling in over the city though! That was quite cool!

We only had a small tent between 5 of us but it was awful to pack away. It was probably the hardest 24hrs of my life though keeping occupied when there’s nothing to do is a pain in the ass putting it nicely. Yeah I did and the rare bits of dry were quite nice though! I managed to miss sunrise though because me and friend went for shelter in the computer room :/ are you going this year? I’m yet to decide

Nope, sadly i can’t go this year (didn’t get to last year either) i’ll be in Cornwall with my boyfriend and his family (5 scouters in one static caravan, could be fun!)

This could be a recipe for a sitcom…

throw in the labrador and we’re sorted!

Cub Scout Project

roverscoutproblems:

So my wife and i are trying to think of ways to get our cubs involved in the idea of the world wide scouting movement. Teaching them that scouts are every where and all doing great things. So we want to do a flat cubby adventure. We are going to have the cubs make a bunch of flat cubbys( think flat Stanley but in a cub scout uniform) and i was hoping to get as many other scouters as possible to sign up to receive a cubby then take a picture and either e mail it or send it via post. And tell us about his adventure? If your willing to help out please send me a message

Reblog this to spread the word
Thank u every one

(While i may be in charge of a BSA cub scouts (boys only) i want them to see every part of scouting so girl guides girl scouts anything scouting.

Back from my theme park trip with the explorers! It was brilliant fun, but i think i’ve made myself ill (maybe too many rollercoasters and sitting in sodden wet clothes for 3 hours?). I have some photos to put up, but i don’t think I actually have any of the explorers, just my scouting bear and her dinosaur selfies.
